about

This is not new music but it is newly packaged music. This was music I wrote 3 years ago in Spring 2014. I was coming off the back of yet another difficult period of my life and for the previous 6 months I had been hurting and healing. Then tracks like this came. I called what I was making "Elektronische Existenz" - Electronic Existence - the very formulation of what consisted of my own life in electronic sound compositions. I even originally had a "life story" for myself worked out and each track was a new chapter in that story. I came to take the title of the project as the title of what I was doing as a whole, so personal was it to me, so intimate. Three years later I realise this was a deeply authentic act and this music was bare, raw, authentically me speaking from what someone more religious might call their soul. It is the sound of my melancholic insides and in presenting it yet again what else could I call it but "Authenticity"? I am usually one who hides or obfuscates about myself but here nothing is hidden. its all there for those with ears to hear. Here is my musical corpse.

That story I mentioned still holds true, even to this day. I am Der Wanderer and my Shadow follows me or is it that i hide in it? This, of course, echoes Nietzsche in the second part to his book, Human, All Too Human, from which the title comes. The "serious philosophical question" is that of Albert Camus in The Myth of Sisyphus, i.e., why does one go on living and not kill oneself? This leads us to Berlin's Tempelhofer Feld which I, and I'm probably not alone in this, regard as sacred ground, a holy place, a place to be quiet, to commune, to feel safe and respected. My "lament for my existence" and "the disruption" are personal references to things I must sometimes face as is the piece which details "the man behind the photograph", a deeply emotional track in which I try to represent myself crying in the closing section. A "pain symphony" and a defensive "tank dance" follow before the whole thing is summed up as an "existential crisis". This is music of struggle and survival, of melancholy and despair.

Its authenticity.
